Become a Sensory Panelist

If you are interested in becoming a panelist or getting notified of upcoming sensory panels, please complete our online form.

Types of Testing

We conduct both in-person testing at the School of Food Science and home-use tests where you evaluate samples at home.  For home-use tests, you are required to either select sample pick-up (at the Sensory Science Center) or sample drop-off (at your home).

For each sensory panel, we will provide the following information:

  • The food or beverage being tested, specifying the allergens contained
  • Screening criteria for participation (past criteria include: Do you do the grocery shopping for your household? Do you consume this product? Are you interested in trying a new carbonated beverage?)
  • Time commitment (i.e. 15-20 min for a consumer panel or longer involvement for a trained panel)
  • Compensation for participation
