WSU graduate and professional students, faculty, and staff are invited to a Professional Development Initiative Friday, March 6 from 12:00 – 2:00 pm in the CUB L60. The event will include online networking tips, one-on-one networking with the Cheeky Scientist, and professional headshots.

The third floor and room T101 of the FSHN Building at WSU will be closed Saturday, March 7 due to crane work.

UI Careers in the Beverage Industry Exploration Series Networking night. The event will take place from 4:00 – 5:30 pm on Wednesday, March 25 in the Whitewater room, Idaho Student Union Building.

Two Food Science judges are needed for the Washington FFA Agriscience Fair on March 30th. Judges can be faculty, staff, grad students or post docs. If you are interested in volunteering please email Dr. Anna Warner (, assistant professor of Agricultural Education.

Student Section

New Graduate Writing Center with extended services now in operation, located in the CUE 402G.

WSU has partnered with to offer students three free months of technical training. Topics include learning programming languages, data science, and machine learning.

GPSA Dissertation Grands of up to $500 are available for PhD candidates to cover the cost of equipment rentals, books, data collection, and analysis software related to research.

Fine Chocolate Industry Association (FCIA) hosts the Elevate Chocolate Trade Fair 2020. Enjoy workshops, networking, discussion, and tastings March 5 – 6 at the Palace of Fine Arts, San Francisco. Visit the FCIA website for more information and to register.

 Jobs, Internships, & Scholarships

Cargill is offering several scholarships to first and second year university students. In addition to financial support the scholarship includes two seminars, mentorship, networking opportunities, and more. Applications are due March 5, for more information visit the Cargill website.

Northwest Farm Credit Services is offering several scholarships for both undergraduate and graduate level students. Applications are due by Sunday, March 1, for more information check out their website.

Dairy Management Inc. (DMI) is offering up to eleven National Dairy Promotion and Research Board (NDPRB) Scholarships in addition to the James H. Loper Jr. Memorial Scholarship. Applications must be completed by May 22 for the 2020 – 2021 academic year, more information can be found on the DMI website.

WSU has introduced the Cougar Money Matters initiative supported by BECU. Cougar Money Matters brings together financial resources for students from every WSU campus for improved financial wellness.
