Apply now to participate in WSU Showcase by January 15, 2020 to present your work in the 2020 poster session. Academic Showcase will be held Thursday, March 26, 2020, at WSU Pullman. Apply on the GPSA Research Exposition website.
The Food Science Club is putting together a Department Recipe Book as a fundraiser for the club. Ideally these would be recipes that you love and also any wonderfully weird things that you love making. Some ideas for sections are cocktails, easy crock pot recipes, sauces, soups, stuffed stuff, food for the soul, healthy yet hearty, cheap and easy, etc. The Food Science Club would really appreciate any and all ideas. This is an open deadline. Please send questions and/or recipes to firstname.lastname@example.org with a subject line like “FS Recipe Book”.
The Student Section
The Department of Food Science and Technology at The Ohio State University will launch the undergraduate Summer Research Scholars Program. This 10-week experience (May 17-July 25) will engage undergraduate students from across the United States in research under the direction of a faculty mentor. Interested students can get more information and access the application page at the Ohio State Food Science Summer Scholarship Program Website.
University of Idaho’s Summer Refresh will be held on January 14 from Noon to 5PM in the SUB (formerly Idaho Commons) and TLC. Semester Refresh is for any student who could benefit from practical skill building and a motivation boost leading into the spring semester. All students are invited. CALS launched a clothing bank for students in Ag Sci room 26. The clothing bank has ‘dress to success’ clothing available for professional events. Donations of clean professional type clothing (any and all sizes) are appreciated. Donations may be dropped off in Ag Sci room 39 (our main Ag Econ office), or at my office, Ag Sci 26.
There will be a Semester Refresh conference where students can gain new skills and fresh motivation for work, school, and life. Semester Refresh is on Tuesday, January 14 from Noon to 5 pm in the ISUB (formerly Idaho Commons) and TLC. See their Facebook Event for more information.
Preventive Controls for Human Foods Training Registration is now Live! You can register on the Food Processing website for January 21-23, 2020.
Jobs, Internships, and Scholarships
The University of Idaho is transitioning its NetLearning online course platform, and will be discontinued December 31, 2019. Anyone who has not completed any NetLearning training will need to do so by that date. All training records will be archived and available through EHS after January 1. Please contact Mary Ellen for any training needs you have, and she will assist you with accessing BbLearn for online classes or arranging attendance to live training sessions when they are scheduled.
