Upcoming Events and Deadlines

The SFS Fall Potluck will be held on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 from 12:10-1:30PM in FSHN Kitchen 103/155. Wear your costumes and bring a food dish to share! Signup with what you are brining on Signup Genius, all are welcome to attend!

Join the WSU Food panel for the evaluation of Pancakes on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 in FSHN 146 from 9AM-1:30PM. You must be at least 18 years of age to participate. The test will take 20-25 minutes of your time.  Allergens: Gluten! Schedule your times here.

The Cheeky Scientist will be holing a workshop titled ‘Resume and Transferable Skills’ on Friday, October 12, 2018 from 12-2 PM in CUB L60 at the Pullman Campus. Register online for the workshop here.

Faculty, Dr. Shelley Pressley, Director of Undergraduate Research, will be holding a workshop on Monday, October 15 from 3-4 PM in Light 405 to share methods and best practices for incorporating undergraduates into in research. This session will cover topics related to undergraduate research including how to effectively mentor students, efficiently manage their time (and yours), and where to find support for your students that are engaged in your research programs. Register here for this upcoming event.

There will be a 3-day event for Boise Startup Week in Boise between October 17,18, and 19th. There is free lodging and bus travel for interested UI students. More info can be found on the Boise Start Up Week Website.

The CAHNRS Business Travel staff is bringing back their Travel Training presentation on October 25, 2018 at 2PM. This training will encompass; how to fill out and submit a Travel Authority and the process of filling out and submitting a Travel Expense Voucher. If interested in attending, contact Kelsey Harris including your name, email and WSU ID number. They will follow up with a meeting reminder for you that will provide location of training.

Call for nomination letters for 2018-2019 CAHNRS Advising, Extension, Research, Staff, Teaching, and Team Awards. Administrators, faculty, students, and staff are encourage to nominate deserving candidates from our department or program in as many categories as possible, but request nominations be limited to one person per award category per department. Nomination letters are due October 10. See more on the CAHNRS Academic Programs website.

The Student Section

WSU requires all undergraduate and graduate students not on assistantships or working as WSU employees to register their international travel through the online International Travel Registry (ITR). You can drop or withdraw from late 8 week classes at UI by October 19, 2018.

At WSU, you have until November 16, 2018 to withdraw (W on record) from a course.

Other Announcements

The National Academies is soliciting applicants for the 2019-20 Jefferson Science Fellowships program.  The program is designed to engage the American science, engineering, and medical communities in US foreign policy and international development.  Fellows will spend one year on assignment at either the State Department or USAID, assisting with foreign policy or international development issues.  Applicants must be an American citizen and a tenured faculty member >> more here.
