Upcoming Events and Deadlines

Washington State University Transportation Services will offer annual campus parking permit renewals for current annual (non-Residence Hall) permit holders for 2019-20 on the web, April 16 – May 15, 2019. For more information and to renew your permit, head to the []Transportation Services website.

Graduate student Chen Chen, under the supervision of Dr. Amy Lin, will defend his master thesis entitled “Modulating Glycemic Response Through the Inhibition Function of Potato Peels on Starch Digestive Enzymes” on May 6, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. in Agricultural Science Building Room 62 at the University of Idaho.

Volunteer judges are needed for the Employability Skills Leadership Development Event for the 89th Washington State FFA Convention. This event simulates real-world activities used by employers and tests students’ ability to perform effectively throughout the employment process. Students submit a cover letter and resume; complete an application and a telephone interview; and participate in a preliminary face–to–face interview.  Students also experience a networking activity.  To ensure this event is as realistic as possible, we rely on judges from industry who engage in the hiring process. The event will be held Thursday, May 9th at Hulbert Hall on the WSU campus. I am in need of judges from 8:00 am to noon for the preliminary round, and from 2:00-5:00pm for the finals round. Please let Anna J. Warner know if you are able to help create a realistic job interview scenario for our students and your availability for morning, afternoon, or both.

The WSU Health Sciences is hosting the National Education for Women’s Leadership Institute on Thursday, July 11-Tuesday, July 16, 2019. Applicants are encouraged to identify a Department, a faculty, or staff member on their campus who can assist them in finding a sponsor to cover the $300 program fee. Students are able to cover the fee themselves, but we prefer they seek out sponsorship first. If you know a student at WSU or at another college/university who would be interested in the program, we encourage you to share this information with them and nominate them to the program.  More information and an application link is available at the Student Affairs Website. The application deadline is Monday, May 13, 2019.
