Washington State University will hold a series of event to celebrate women in science, technology, engineering and math from March 18 to 21. Organizers of WSU’s 2nd Annual Week of Women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) aim to inspire students as well as bring them together with professionals for networking, mentoring, and professional development. Washington State University Transportation Services is transitioning to permitless license plate recognition (LPR) parking next year. This requires adjustments to the reciprocal parking agreement between U of I and WSU. Email firstname.lastname@example.org if you regularly teach, work or are involved in research partnerships at WSU. We need to understand who will be impacted by this upcoming change so we can work collaboratively with WSU Transportation Services to make it as seamless as possible. Registration for the Business Plan Competition opened today. All WSU students, regardless of major, are eligible to participate as long as at least two members are undergraduates. . The screening round of the competition requires registering their team online and submitting a one-pager about their business idea. Teams that advance to the presentation round will be notified April 1 and will then submit a 4-7 page business plan and slide deck. The presentation round takes place on April 25. KT Farms is sponsoring a $5000 Ag Tech/Food Science prize at the upcoming competition. Full competition guidelines, scoring rubrics, deadlines, and the registration link can all be found on the BPC webpage.

The 3rd Annual Plant Science Symposium will be held on Friday, March 22, 2019 at Washington State University. The event will be held in the WSU Elson S. Floyd Cultural Center. There is also an opportunity for graduate students and postdocs to apply to present a short talk. The Office of Undergraduate Research invites undergraduate students from all disciplines at U of I to apply for a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF). The SURF Program supports students on faculty-mentored projects in any field of study from June through early August. Each award includes a $4,000 student fellowship and $1,000 in research funds to help cover the cost of project-related expenses. The application deadline is March 25. The College of Agriculture of Agriculture and Natural Resources (AGNR) at the University of Maryland, College Park is currently recruiting our 2019 Summer Research Opportunity Program (SROP) cohort. The SROP promotes research in the agricultural, environmental, nutritional and food sciences while providing underrepresented students an opportunity to develop research skills, and learn about doctoral training and establish relationships with AGNR faculty and graduate students. The Office of Undergraduate Research invites undergraduates from all disciplines to present their work in poster format at the 2019 U of I Undergraduate Research Symposium. The event will take place 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 29, in the International Ballroom, Bruce M. Pitman Center, Moscow. This event is designed to showcase student research, scholarly work and creative activities from all disciplines at the University of Idaho. Students will present and display their work to the campus community along with campus visitors, family and friends. The abstract submission deadline is April 1. UI Students, the University of Idaho has established an Institutional Agreement with Kaplan to allow students the opportunity to complete live, in-person GRE and MCAT preparation courses at a reduced rate. The WSU Creamery is hiring for Warehouse Operator 3 position. This position is responsible for the managing the cheese storage warehouse at the Creamery Annex for the WSU Creamery. The duties of the position include, but are not limited to: receiving and organizing cheese produced by the Creamery as well as dry goods that are delivered to the Creamery Annex; manually packing and shipping cheese; maintaining all necessary paperwork and record keeping; hiring and training the employees that package Cougar Cheeses for shipment through UPS and other carriers; and other duties as assigned.
