Upcoming Events and Deadlines

Please plan to attend Elvis Baidoo’s Doctor of Philosophy preliminary examination in Food Science today in FSHN 104A at 1 PM. Click here to see Elvis Baidoo’s Abstract for more information.

WSU Grad Orientation will be on August 15, 2018 in the CUB Sr. Ballroom. Doors open at 8 AM >> more here.

The UI New Student Orientation will be on Friday, August 17, 2018. Please see below for more details:

  • 9:30-11:00 AM:  Join the parents of incoming students in the Ag Biotech Interaction court for light refreshments.
  • 1:30-4:00 PM:  Incoming students will gather in Ag Sci 106 for a welcome and activity with Academic Programs, then we will escort students to their respective departments.

Representatives are requested from each department (faculty & staff) ready to meet with students, give facility tours, or have an activity for students by 2:30 PM. Also encouraged to join in the welcome at 1:30 if possible.

Save the date for the SFS mandatory all grad student orientation at 4:30 PM and safety training (mandatory for new grad, post docs, new researchers, etc.) at 6 PM in FSHN Kitchen 103/155 on Tuesday, August 21, 2018. More details to follow,  see Jodi Anderson if you have any questions. Pizza will be provided.

Save the date for the Annual School of Food Science & Entomology Back to School BBQ Potluck on August 24, 2018 at Sunnyside Park. The BBQ will start at 5:30 PM! More details to follow.

The WSU CAHNRS Fall Festival will be held on September 13, 2018 from 4-6 PM at Spillman Plaza (between Johnson Hall & Hulbert Hall). There will be free food, games, and a chance to visit with fellow students and student clubs. All are welcome to attend!

VandalStar at UI will be going live this fall, Advisors will have the opportunity to schedule student appointments through VandalStar as well as see flags and kudos raised by instructors >> more here.

The 67th annual Washington Assn for Food Protection Conference will be held in Chelan, Washington in September 19-21, 2018. University of Idaho Federal regulations for the Federal Pell Grant funds are changing for summer 2018. For the first time in several years, undergraduate degree-seeking students who are eligible for Pell Grants during the academic year may also be able to receive Pell Grant funding during the summer. If you are looking for summer school funding and are Pell Grant eligible, please refer to the UI Financial Aid website ( for additional information.
