

Jessica Murray and Victoria Minette, both WSU SFS undergrads, were given awards at WSU Showcase for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities (SURCA) on Monday, March 30.
They presented their research and took away the only two awards given in the Applied Sciences category. Jessica won the Crimson award with her presentation on “Impact of the Hardness Locus on Milling Properties and Flour Quality of Durum Wheat (Triticum turgidum)”. Her mentor is Dr. Craig Morris.
Victoria won the Gray award with her presentation on “Saliva: Its Influence on the Electronic Tongue’s Response Utilizing Singular Tastants”. Her faculty mentor is Dr. Carolyn Ross.

A third winner, Meredith Kuchera was awarded a special award for Excellence in Undergraduate Research. Her project dealt with “Consumer Acceptance of a Polyphenol-Enriched Coffee Beverage”. Her faculty mentor is Dr. Carolyn Ross.
