February 1, 2016 PULLMAN, Wash.-
Ganjyal, an Assistant Professor and Extension Food Processing Specialist in the School of Food Science at WSU, was honored during the men’s basketball game against Utah on January 21, 2016.
Ganjyal emphasizes that teaching at WSU means a great deal to him.
“It is an honor and fun to work with all the brilliant people (the students, staff and faculty) on campus and across the state,” Ganjyal says. “In my job, I also get to work with the people in the community, around the Pacific Northwest region. This includes the farmers who grow our food, the processors who convert the food into the finished products, the food regulating agencies and the various groups of growers and processors. Many of them are our alumni. It’s one big family. I learn a lot every day by interacting with all the wonderful people I am surrounded by!”
The Acting Dean of the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences, Kim Kidwell, says Ganjyal is an extremely valuable member of WSU’s faculty.
“Dr. Girish Ganjyal is a national expert in food processing and ingredient technology leaving a successful career at PepsiCo to join WSU,” Kidwell says. “Girish is developing new, healthy and high value (and fun) foods for everyone. He is also creating processing solutions for our important fruit, grain and potato industries that improve sustainability, efficiency and global competitiveness. Girish is leading WSU food processing and safety extension and outreach efforts across the state and region. Because of the joint School of Food Science, he is both a Coug and a Vandal – and a star player on our team.”
