Dairy Products Team Competes with Unique Product
The School of Food Science Dairy Product Development Team competed against teams from other universities and took home the third place prize for their product, “Pizzarella”.
The competition is an annual event held at the Idaho Milk Processors’ Association Annual Conference in Sun Valley, Idaho. The event was on August 13 and included teams from School of Food Science, Utah State, BYU and South Dakota State.
Pizzarella is a single serve pizza flavored cheese slice developed to create instant pizza. The individually packaged slices can be placed on a piece of bread, heated and served as pizza- extra toppings optional. Their product is a fresh mozzarella seasoned to taste like pizza with dried basil, Italian seasoning, tomato powder and ghost pepper.
The student team is made up of 5 students: Matthew Tanoei Husada, Mirza Rachmat, Kenny McMahon, Zachary Cartwright, and Franciele Caramit. The team’s advisor is Mike Costello. They worked as a team for several months using their unique skills and education to create the dairy product for this competition.
Congratulations to our team!
